Billy Davis’ drop brand new album – A FAMILY PORTRAIT

Posted by: operativejp on September 1, 2017

Over the past 12 months, Billy Davis has been introducing himself to new fans with his exciting blend of hip-hop/RnB. With support from around the world, the talented producer and band leader has stamped himself as a unique talent on the Australian musical landscape.

Today, he shares his debut album, A Family Portrait, with the world, a record of heavy importance to the Melbourne-based artist. Dedicating the project to his mother and his late-father (who passed away when Billy was just 3), the family concept also touches on the musical family he has shaped. Of this, Davis says; ‘Not really knowing what a regular family was, being an only child with just a mum it was crazy that with this project I was able to find and build a family of my own.’

Featuring the recently released Jace XL collaboration ‘Postcards’ (stream here) and standout singles ‘No Longer Lovers’ and ‘Goldfish’ (featuring Denzel Curry), the album delves into Davis and collaborator Tentendo’s incredible grasp of production which has grown quickly dramatically since their connection began. Enlisting a number of other Melbourne-based talented artists (including members of his live band the Good Lords), the result is 14 tracks of positive, joyful hip-hop, marking Billy Davis as a breath of fresh air on the Australian music scene.
