Over the past 12 months, Billy Davis has been introducing himself to new fans with his exciting blend of Hip-Hop / RnB. With support from around the world, the talented producer and band leader has stamped himself as a unique talent on the Australian musical landscape.
Today, he shares his debut album, A Family Portrait, with the work, a record of heavy importance to the Melbourne-based artist. Dedicating the project to his mother and his late-father (who passed away when Billy was just 3), the family concept also touches on the musical family he has shaped. Of this, Davis says; “Not really knowing what a regular family was, being an only child with just a mum it was crazy that with this project I was able to find and build a family of my own.” You can stream the album here.
To celebrate the release, Billy Davis and The Good Lords will be performing a very special launch show in Melbourne at Max Watt’s on Saturday November 4. Also performing will be KAIIT, Jace XL and Amin Payne.
“A Family Portrait” features the recently released collaboration featuring Jace XL, “Postcards” and standout singles “No Longer Lovers” as well as “Goldfish”(featuring Denzel Curry), the album delves into Davis and collaborator Tentendo’sincredible grasp on production which has grown dramatically since their connection began. Enlisting a number of other Melbourne-based artists (including members of The Good Lords), the result is 14 tracks of positive, joyful Hip-Hop, marking Billy Davis as a breathe of fresh air on the Australian music scene.
