Espionage is back: The Operatives have invited reggae icon David Rodigan with him for his first ever Melbourne show, the return of Good Times purveyor of house music and dusty grooves: Norman Jay MBE, Brazil’s drum & bass master DJ Marky, NZ’s Producers of “Dubstep in it’s truest form” TRUTH, Boss of Canadian Basscoast Festival The Librarian as well as a massive line up of Melbourne’s very own Monkey Marc, Adrians Wall, Chris Ng, Digital Afrika, Fee, Float, Jesse I, Lady Banton, Maxx R, Paz And Walla C- making sure everyone’s dancefloor needs are completely covered!
For over 40 years David Rodigan has been the top dog in the ganja-scented, bass-heavy atmosphere of Britain’s reggae dance-halls. The key to his success has been an unsinkable passion for reggae music, which first took a hold of him as a schoolboy when he heard ska music in the early ’60s. He developed an obsession with the music of Jamaica that generated an encyclopaedic knowledge of the island’s every artist, every song and every rhythm track. Rodigan will be bringing his unique collection of customised dub plates and classic recordings to Melbourne for the very first time in February, a once in a lifetime opportunity for his loyal reggae fans to see him play in Australia.
Norman Jay is unquestionably one of the most respected and popular DJs in the world today. Co-founder of the legendary Good Times Sound System and London dance music station KISS FM, Jay fostered the ‘Rare Groove’ scene pushing the boundaries of the UK’s emerging club culture. Awarded an MBE for services to DJing and music, in 2017 he released ‘Mister Good Times’, a compilation capturing the true spirit of Good Times, and is currently taking his legendary Good Times party to selected venues around the world, continuing to convert generations of clubbers to the cause, championing new sounds, yet never forgetting his musical roots, thus guaranteeing nothing but ‘Good Times’.
Boss of the world famous label Innerground, DJ Marky has more than 20 years of experience, taking the art of DJing and producing to another level. DJ Marky will be taking fans on a magical musical journey through drum & bass.
Something of a rarity in today’s fast moving music culture, Truth have managed to both career, cementing them as one of New Zealand’s finest creative exports. Since the act’s inception in 2007, Andre Fernandez and Tristan Roake have cut a clear pathway through the international dubstep and bass music scene

Andrea Graham, aka The Librarian, is a bass music DJ and producer from the Pacific Northwest. Her sets move through European dubstep, grime, footwork, jungle, dancehall and halftime drum and bass, tying everything together with low end frequencies. She is the co-founder and chief music curator of Bass Coast Music Festival, a member of West Coast bass music crew Lighta! Sound, and the co-host of a bi-monthly radio show with Mat the Alien on Sub.fm.

Melbourne producer Monkey Marc writes digital roots, bass music and hip hop with a strong political focus. He has produced for Jamaican artists from Capleton, Sizzla, Dre Island, Lutan Fyah, Turbulence and Fantan Mojah to UK artists Roots Manuva and Soom T. He currently working on a release with Ninjaman, Pinch (Tectonic Records) and Rider Shafique.

“Monkey Marc is an anomaly – a mash up of Mad Max and Lee Scratch Perry” – Reggaeville

Joining these legends of the international music scene on the day will be Melbourne’s own dubplate aficionado, Chant Down Sound’s Jesse I. One the most respected reggae personalities in Australia, Jesse I is known around the world as an authority on Jamaican music, and a purveyor of the finest roots, reggae and dancehall sounds.
