We live in a time where we often forget or turn a blind eye to situation we feel may be out of our control. The time has come to change that interpretation, and fix the situation. Remedy is the united force of Melbourne’s finest purveyors of electronic music. And together, we’ll help to fix as many of these situations as we viably can, or help at least.
Our beneficiary this time round is a close friend and old time music stalwart DJ Kuya aka Grumpy Uncle aka Arsenio Fabay.
Arsenio has been in and out of hospital for the last year and
to cut a long story short – exactly a year ago – last easter – He checked in to see his doc about some ongoing lethargy issue and was ordered straight to hospital.
Turns out he had kidney failure (or damn close to it) and was on dialysis for four days. During his stay the docs determined that he had a series of Nerourendocrine Tumours – cancers – in his kidney, liver, and pancreas.
He had chemotherapy between June-December last year with limited success here at St. Vincents with regular consultations at Peter Macallum in East Melbourne.
He’s been back at St. Vincents twice this month because of high calcium (which is caused by the cancers which leads to the kidney problems, which all kind of feeds back on itself.
So now, he is consulting with the Peter Mac guys about operating on his liver, with a view to radiotherapy later in the year and is facing dialysis for the rest of his life.
Our interpretation is to help Kuya ease the financial woes and alleviate some of the stress on this already extremely difficult situation and to celebrate the musician and contributor that he is to our city.
