In a dusty bar by the Mississippi, the sounds of a blues rhythm on a harmonica rattle through ramshackle windows. Dice are thrown, moonshine swigged and worker’s shake off a long week’s toil with dancing, sequins and beaming smiles. It’s Thursday night and the Juke Joint is in full swing!

It may have been 70 years since Mr Roberts closed the doors to his original Juke Joint, but he’s decided to get the old band back together again once a month at Howler, every third Thursday of the month. Teaming up with local cutting-edge collectives, the clandestine The Operatives, audio-frequency engineers Whomp! and Opiuo’s record label Slurp Music to present a new home for showcasing local artists, secret guests, visuals artists, art installation in a newly decorated space each month.

The closely guarded line-up will be released each Monday previous in Beat Magazine.
