The last ten years have seen The Operatives develop into one of Australia’s foremost musical collectives. Responsible for touring the world’s most exceptional musical figures, advancing Australia’s artists to an international audience, each Espionage has been curated as more than a party, but an event to feed your senses. After a decade promoting some of the most-ahead-of-the-wave upcoming artists, the WE ARE TEN celebration imagines a new world, transforming Revolt Artspace into 2054 Neo-Bangkok and showcases twenty artists from across the globe that are carving out the sounds of the future – get to know:

KORELESS

Welsh, Glasgow-based producer Lewis Roberts – known by his KORELESS alias – creates sci-fi-inspired ambient tracks that somehow manage to evoke a human emotion through his soft synth lullabies and clanging neon bass. There’s been his collaborations with Sampha and Jacques Greene, and a handful of excellent remixes (for How To Dress Well and Foals amongst others) and after releasing the Yūgen 12” through Young Turks his colourful and minimal music has become synonymous with the sound of the moment.

STWO

At only twenty-years old this Parisian producer and DJ with an infatuation for silky R&B vocals STWO manages to makes some of the most love-struck electronic music we’ve ever heard. Since his first original track ‘You’ caught the ears of thousands of Soundcloud listeners – after he’d only been producing for five months – STWO was signed to HUH WHAT WHERE with the likes of Kaytranada, Mike Gao and Ta-ku. His latest EP ‘Beyond’ out through Live for The Funk will leave you head-nodding for hours and his pillow-talk-smooth remixes deftly rework everyone from Ciara to Cashmere Cat, JMSN and the Weeknd.

SINJIN HAWKE

With an extensive output through the waves of his Soundcloud SINJIN HAWKE is a producer that is versatile, to say the least. From stripped-down Beyonce instrumentals, to Brandy bootlegs to an effortlessly cool collaboration with Just Blaze to his latest series ‘Fractal Fantasy’ which combines his heart-stopping collaborations with the likes of Mike Q and LVis1990 with intense visuals. The Montreal native’s sound has exploaded since his debut ep ‘The Lights’ released through Pelican Fly. SINJIN HAWKE  has a sound of ‘soulful rave’ or what XLR8R calls ‘celestial grime’ drawing inspirtation inspiration from Southern strip-club jams and the grimiest of London’s basement parties and somehow crafts some of the most orgininal, soaring music of the moment, and we can’t wait to watch him spin it live for the first time in Melbourne.

SANGO

From his bedroom in Michigan SANGO explored the globe for the perfect sound – scouring forums for rare Brazilian records and listening to his grandfather’s Afro Cuban tracks, it’s no wonder his music has an original and heartfelt feeling. From flipping Latin music, introducing baile funk to trap and carving beat-tapes based on his childhood memories, his fresh and culturally diverse sounds have drawn him listeners from around the world. Quickly snapped up by LA beat purveyors Soulection after showcasing his unrelenting skill in production with his own Bandcamp releases his carefully crafted debut album North featured the likes of Ta-Ku, Atu, JSMN and even his mum – who once gave her beat tape to Dr. Dre – playing keys.

MARK PRITCHARD

With a career spanning multiple decades, genres, labels, and an almost incalculable number of collaborations, MARK PRITCHARD has built up an extensive list of monikers over the years. Though many producers now subscribe to the idea of having alter-egos, Pritchard has recently come full circle on the idea, and will be henceforth be producing under only one name—his own—and uniting his many styles and interests under a single umbrella. Whatever the genre Mark’s work has been characterised by his ability to of giving the music more room to get funky, and producing deeply emotional, and twisted sounds – guaranteed to get your groove on.

SAMPOLOGY

Defying expectation and breaking genre boundaries, Australian artist SAMPOLOGY is a pioneer of performance, blending a musical and visual experience to become what many consider Australia’s leading Audio Visual DJ and each themed performance he gives is ground breaking. Combining original music with exclusive remixes his latest show will stimulate your senses; sexually, suggestively yet tastefully in the unique way his audio/visual shows have become renown for.

BEAT SPACEK

Steve Spacek, the acclaimed voice behind the genre-pushing group SPACEK – who were championed by everyone from Entertainment Weekly to Mos Dep – made a name for himself at the turn of the century with the song ‘Eve’. The song set off a worldwide buzz on Steve as a singer and his group’s futuristic sound. Imagine a robot performer in the future, in love with hip-hop beatology and skilful enough to twist it into new shapes, programmed with an infused knowledge of the biographies of Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway and Leroy Hutson as source material for lyric writing and you might have an idea of the Spacek sound – Robotic, futuristic, hip-hop based soul.

POMO

POMO’s on the proverbial come up, having released more and more attractive material over the past couple of months the Montreal-based and HW&W member, is carving out a name for himself making synthesized grooves, with on-point percussion of the beat-meets-house persuasion.
