OPS-Jordan-Dennis-The-Link-Spotift-2660pxFast moving Melbourne-based hip-hop artist, Jordan Dennis reveals his latest single & video, “The Link”, out today via eponymous label imprint with The Orchard and The Operatives, Jordan Dennis Records.

Produced by longtime friend and collaborator Jujo, Dennis’ effervescent personality is brought to life with ease on “The Link”, harnessing spitfire rhymes as he darts around the steady beat. Whether it be his wild wordplay or down-tempo raps, “The Link” captures Dennis in complete control, showcasing his talent, nerve and insatiable desire to continually outshine himself and push against genre confinements.

Despite being up against isolation constraints and cross continental borders, “The Link” receives a visual treatment from Sydney production house, Filmreaktor. After hearing Dennis’ most recent release “Doc Marty” on FBi radio, Filmreaktor got in touch to be part of the Jordan Dennis project. Brought to life remotely by acclaimed Japanese director Kensaku Kakimoto, the video is shot in an abandoned Sydney train tunnel, featuring a fierce troupe of dancers matching his rhyme energy with each movement. Refusing to be restricted by proximity, Filmreaktor and Kakimoto have brought “The Link” into a visual realm despite almost 8,000kms between them, showing how the industry remains connected on a global scale.

Director Kensaku Kakimoto on the music video: “Since the global shutdown, I haven’t been able to shoot anywhere, even here in Tokyo. So I was very excited for this opportunity to collaborate with Filmreaktor, and remotely shoot the music video for the amazing Jordan Dennis. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t be there feeling the vibe on set but I’m grateful to work with the artist and connect with new cast and crew and ‘Link’ up in a way that I never imagined before this project.”

JD_DUNCOGRAPHIC_KENSINGTON_2020-17Producer Jonas McLallen on the music video: “The lyrics and music of the track were the foundation for the creative team to conjure the story, and all departments, from Costume through to Camera and Lighting took those ideas and expanded on them, creating a rich and connected piece of film that sits snugly adjacent to Jordan Dennis’ amazing track ‘The Link’. Filmmaking is necessarily a collaborative effort, and this project reminded us all that what binds us together is not necessarily visible, but absolutely present and vital.”

“The Link” follows Dennis’ first 2020 release in “Doc Marty”, featuring ThatKidMaz and Denzel M. Premiered on triple j’s Good Nights, the track found love across the airwaves with additions on Unearthed and FBi Radio, as well as online from key tastemakers including FilterZine, Sniffers, Purple Sneakers and more. 2019’s debut EP HDM1 pulsed with lyrical aptitude, unmatched melody and precision-cut wordplay in a 6-track testament to timeless hip-hop sound, while Dennis found further time to jump on tracks by POLOSHIRT, 3K, ThatKidMaz, Dugong Jr, Tentendo, and his ongoing work with Billy Davis. On the stage, Dennis delivers a contagious presence witnessed across festival appearances at St. Jerome’s Laneway, Let Them Eat Cake and NYE on the Hill, as well as in support of Baker Boy, Winston Surfshirt, Mr Carmack, Joe Kay, TOKiMONSTA, Arno Faraji, Blackalicious and more.

Today, “The Link” backs up an already profound burst of releases, freestyles and guest verses, as Jordan Dennis’ solo stardom continues to surge. His meticulous artistry and fearlessness to curve genre sees plenty more prospects on the horizon in 2020.
