There’s a serious shortage of hip-hop albums out this year that have been served without the cheese. I mean, really, Drake’s release was softer than Aveeno moisturiser, Yeezus was hardly turning water into wine. It’s time’s like this you’ve gotta turn to the underground for the whole cracker, and JONWAYNE’s debut Stones Throw album, even after just two preview tracks, is set to be the rap release of 2013. After all, few artists have dropped mixtapes that have resulted in nearly getting sued by Marlboro and stepping on some serious Apple and Coca-Cola infringements.

Part of the fabled Low End Theory second generation, the poetry-slamming producer was one of the youngest people to grace the stage and his tracks were soon being spun by the likes of DJ KUTMAH and NOBODY before he was signed by PEANUT BUTTER WOLF. Headlining Espionage last year alongside MONO/POLY, JONWAYNE was a force to be reckoned with, triggering samples he spun his instrumental tracks with more magic than a Disney movie as he hit the mike for freestyle interludes.

Now, after teasing us with ‘Reflection‘ last month, and ‘The Come Up – Part I’ with Digital Diamonds’ Scoop DeVille just yesterday, JONWAYNE will be dropping Rap Album One next Tuesday, ahead of his Australia tour and Melbourne Music Week and The Operative’s closing party and we can’t wait to see him and hear this live.

Stones Throw will release Rap Album One on October 29th, 2013.
