The Operatives – in association with FBI Radio – are extremely excited to announce that alongside the Golden Plains headliner slot, FLYING LOTUS will be bringing the incredible Layer 3 to his debut performance at the Sydney Opera House with support from SILENT JAY.
It’s hard to believe the Warp Records signed artist was a few years ago playing to a handful of people in an laneway in Melbourne, part of 2003’s Red Bull Music Academy. Especially when, even without the visual element, his signature blend of hip-hop is an eyes-wide-jaw-dropping kind of experience. Over the years he’s since played alongside many of the Operatives’ agents, from small bars in Brisbane, to packed out festivals in Perth and we can’t wait to see him at Australia’s most iconic venue.
Armed with his most melodic, harmonious record yet in the dream-like Until the Quiet Comes, the years-in-the-making Layer 3 pits the 30-year-old within a whirlwind two-screen setup, triggering his sugar-rush marvels, video-game funk, in-the-pocket rhythms and live visuals alongside long-term collaborators and Brainfeeder affiliates, STRANGELOOP and TIMEBOY.
Layer 3 takes place at the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House on Sunday, 9th March, 2014, with general public tickets going on sale from 9:00am AEST on Friday, 15th November.
